A Plethora of Pictures Post coming at you.

The maximal amount of food (etc) pictures I have just chillin’ in my “Camera” folder from the last ten days is causing me stress sweats. The minimal amount of thoughts of a unique, dynamic and thrilling nature roaming my mind is also causing me stress sweats. I’m gently knocking to the ground these two birds with this one stone post by throwing down a lot of pictures from the past weekish without too much (or any) deep, insightful thought to accompany them. Bare with me.

Today we’ll start with the product pictures edition. Next post will be the plates edition so as to break up the insanity and not completely overwhelm you. I tend to be a little overwhelming.

And GO!

Products

I’ll never stop loving on Mr. PC and his presidential choices.

Such as this new awesome salad dressing. Take ranch. Combine it with SALSA. What’s not to like?

015

(No I did not put the Salsa Ranch dressing on the peanut butter cookies behind it. Nor on the kiwis. It’s good but I do have boundaries)

Instead – Salsa Ranch on my salad. That seems about right.

022

This dressing may single-handedly be the reason my shorts are snug. Though it probably had a little help from Mr. Peanut Butter Jar.

I don’t think it was his white corn & black bean salsa that made it into the salsa ranch dressing since there were no bean nor corn chunks to be found in said dressing. There were plenty in this jar though, making it an incredibly satisfying topping for my rice crackers and tortilla chips…and also making it disappear in one day. This house likes its salsa.

029

Back in the day (maybe two years ago now) I used to buy this PC Vanilla Soy Protein Powder. Then I eventually accumulated others to try and stopped buying this one. I recently remembered its deliciousness and let it into my life once again. This stuff is so good it can be eaten dry and straight from the container. Not that I’d ever do that or anything…ehem.

004

It’s also excellent in PUMPKIN. So good stirred into pumpkin.

But mainly it does a mighty fine job in smoothies (duh) – Chilled tea, almond milk, ice, gums, stevia, vanilla soy protein powder and some poor teddy grahams crumbled to their doom.

Products You (Probably) Don’t Want To Eat

My new purple shirt from Costco (they always have some great cheap workout swag) and my new shades from Winners. Both noteworthy because I’m kind of in love with this purple hue and because I’ve been (casually) looking for new sunglasses forever and I finally found a pair that don’t make me look like a dork. First pair I tried on too. Win!

053

NEW SHOES. Oh how overdue I was for a new pair of running shoes.
Out with the old (Left), in with the NEW (Right). I don’t even want to talk about how overdue these were. But let’s just say it’s been a while… and considering I run most days… my poor little Asics sure didn’t have much “kick” left in them.

055

Might partially explain why my runs have been so. darn. exhausting. lately. I have high hopes for my new babies.

I also bought about 900 other things in the past two days and now my wallet aches. The main NEED was the running shoes though, so checking that off my list dried up a small patch of my stress sweats.

Barney. Okay so he’s not quite a product but I have been catching up on the most recent season of How I Met Your Mother since it’s one of my favourite shows and I so rudely threw it to the wayside during school. And then forgot about it.

090

So that was only a mini plethora. I spared you a hundred pictures of raw vegetables covered in salsa ranch and me looking rough and tough flexing in my new hot pink workout top (one of those other 900 purchases I mentioned above). The former you will get to see in my next post though. I know you’re excited.

What is your most recent purchase?
And your favourite salad dressing?

A chilly, rainy weekend we’ve had at my neck of the woods. Upset, however, I am not as I’m soaking it up with stretchy pants, a muffin and a mug of hot tea.

Would someone care to join me?

How about Amanda and Heather, since they’re the winners of the Lipton Tuesday Tea Giveaway! Congrats Gals! I’ll be emailing to get your info.

Thanks to everyone who entered! A spot of virtual hot tea to all of you.

(weheartit)

The few days preceding the weekend were hot and sunny. Perfect conditions for smoothies, salads and shopping.

007

Care for a little behind-the-scenes peak at smoothie making in action?

Lately I’ve been putting Barley Grass powder and cinnamon in almost all of my smoothies. An extra nutrient kick? Why not.

003

We haven’t reached the part where it looks appetizing (or even drinkable) yet.

006

How about now? Is it strange that I’ve considered topping a bowl of spinach with a spinach smoothie? I honestly don’t think it would be that bad…I’m now probably going to have to prove myself right. Stay tuned…

010

Voila. Alright so it’s still not exactly beautiful but at least it looks drinkable.

017

I also savoured a bowl of overnight oats one day in amongst the smoothie drinking – 1/3 cup oats, 1/2 cup almond, 1/4 cup Greek yogurt, 1 Tbsp chia seeds, frozen banana and frozen peanut flour chunks.

005

C’est l’amour du jour.

028

Sometimes I eat cabbage slaw salads in the backyard while still rocking my flannel pant pyjamas, no big deal.

016

And sometimes I spare the neighbours and keep my consumption indoors.

082

Salsa has also been making frequent appearances as my all-star condiment this week. What can’t it go on? (Maybe bananas. Or ice cream)

031

There’s that salsa again, alongside some tofu shirataki noodles I found hiding in the back of the fridge. If you rinse them well you can eliminate almost all of the fish smell. If you coat them with a mixture of hummus and pasta sauce, fish smell be gone.

030

You could also try coating them with avocado, though the sliminess of the tofu noodles paired with the creaminess of the avocado was almost too much even for me, and I’m all about the creamy.

054

Just make sure to have extra fresh and crunchy vegetables on the side to balance out the creaminess.

053

I eat my veggies, but I also never forget my fruits.

Especially when they’re berries, the most beautiful, juicy, sweet, flavourful fruits out there. Delicious on their own but decadent when paired with raspberry yogurt mixed with coconut flour and cocoa powder.

052

Dessert is served – strawberries, blueberries and blackberries topped with Greek yogurt and muffin slices.

067

I also mentioned having done some pre-weekend shopping. I saw a flyer for a big six-day sale event at a local arena and, being the sale junkie that I am, I obviously had to check it out.

Loaded with reduced price perfumes, makeup and beauty products, jewellery, household goods, candy and shoes, I was in my element.

I came home with a few goodies:

Genisoy treats

088

It didn’t take me long to dig into the Chocolate Mint Sweet Crisps. Minty, chocolate-y and crunchy, they get my compliments.

092

Revlon Nail Polish – I have a slight nail polish addiction and when you put large bins of nail polish bottles at 3 for $5 in my face, I am guaranteed to leave with a handful. Side note – I own a ridiculous number of pink shades.

102

Guess shoes – There was a rack of them for $40 each. The catch? Size 6 only. My feet are small but not that small. Luckily they fit quite nicely into this open-toed, open-backed pair.

123

A quick stop on the way home at my favourite home goods store, HomeSense, found me walking out with a bottle of Madagascar Vanilla Bean Paste, “a convenient, versatile alternative to whole vanilla beans.” I’ve seen it make a few appearances around the blog world (I know Janetha’s raved about it before) and I’m looking forward to giving it a try, especially since it’s apparently comparable to real vanilla beans, which I have yet to try out. Ever tried it? Any must-try ideas?

131

After all of the above was said and done, the sun faded, the weekend hit, and the clouds rolled in.

What else is one to do on a rainy Saturday than head to work to staple, stamp, and eat Pita Pit?

026 - Copy026 - Copy (2)

006

Whole wheat (6 inch) ‘Petita’ with babaghanoush, honey mustard and a garden-load of vegetables = Lunch of Champions.

The rest of Saturday continued without a hitch, leading into sleep, wake, eat, run, eat, blog –> You Are Here. Now I’m still sitting, soaking up the rainy day in my stretchy pants, with an empty tea mug at my side and nary a muffin crumb in site. This scenario shall eventually conclude with either another round of sleep or a night out of dancing. I’m on the fence with this one, as I feel I’ve pretty much outgrown tonight’s site of choice. Decisions, decisions. Only the next few hours shall tell.

But first?

Dinner time.

Happy Sunday to all, and to all a good night.

We interrupt this post with an important News FLASH —-

The Peanut Butter Heavens have touched down in my city!
I’ve relished in the joys of Cinnamon Raisin Swirl and White Chocolate Wonderful that I happily discovered in the past at my local grocery store, but never did I think I would see the day when Dark Chocolate Dreams and Mighty Maple graced the shelves of a place located in my very not so-Peanut Butter & Co-equipped neighbourhood. I had resigned myself to the fact that I just may never taste the delights of these trendy and coveted peanut butter flavours. But no more. Not only am I now the proud owner of both, but I can restock my supply whenever I need to!

IMG_9137

I even had a nice little conversation with the cashiers about how great the White Chocolate Wonderful is and how I highly recommended they buy and try the PB&Co greatness, as dangerous a habit as it is to get into. One was slightly weary as she is a self-proclaimed peanut butter lover (and thus was probably afraid to begin the addiction) but I’ll bet she went home with a jar or two tonight.

——-And now back to our regular program.

Food shopping has been a bit exciting the past few days. Not only did I score two wonderful peanut butter flavours today, but I also picked up some tempeh which is hard to find around here and yet which I adore.

IMG_9130

We also just got a Costco Membership! So you can bet there was a trip this weekend. We didn’t get a huge load but did pick up a few food deals:

IMG_8993

Tri pack of tofu, duo pack of plain yogurt, big bag of super fresh dried fruit, giant almond butter and six pack of tuna. Gotta cover the basics.

This huge almond butter was only $6.99! That’s cheaper than all of the almond butter varieties at the grocery store, which are all half the size! I couldn’t afford not to get it. And now I am very set for nut butters for a while…

IMG_8996

During another quick grocery store trip on the weekend I stumbled upon some Fontaine Sante Light Spinach Dip.

IMG_0938 IMG_0941

You can bet this became a good chunk of my lunch. I had a field day dipping baby carrots in and putting a gigantic dent in the container. Oh so good. It had water chesnuts in it. Genius! I’m definitely now a fan of crunch in spinach dip. IMG_0943

This Weekend in Eats

Mornings

Cereal is my addiction, my kryptonite, my existence. If I could eat it at every meal I would. Wait, I probably already do that. Oh my geez. IMG_8952 IMG_8963 IMG_8979 IMG_9119 IMG_9124

Once in a blue moon I switch it up and drink some green liquidy stuff. But that’s usually followed by a few handfuls of cereal along with a few chapters of trashy girly summer reading.

IMG_8890

Daytimes

I love my cereal, but I also love my veggies.

IMG_8990

Especially when covered in honey mustard…

IMG_9156IMG_8922

…and salsa and hummus.

IMG_9000 IMG_9102 IMG_9032

They’re also great in summer squash form…

IMG_9011

… in winter squash form…

IMG_9017

…and in burger form.

IMG_8971

Once in a while I even make them look like (but not taste like) dessert – nope, it’s not Banana Soft Serve. It’s cauliflower!

IMG_8925

When I wasn’t eating veggies or cereal this weekend, I was eating lots of fruit…
(moreso grapes and blueberries but I eat them by the handful out of the fridge)

IMG_8940

… and lots of yogurt (this particular bowl mixed with PB2 and dried fruit and nuts).IMG_8880

Lemon pound cake somehow found its way into my fridge so I’ve been snacking on that dangerous little mound here and there too. Once I double-whammied the danger and topped it with butter pecan ice cream. That was rough.

IMG_8975

And fresh Montreal-style bagels were purchased so I had bagel bitlets topped with dangerously delicious dips today at lunch.

IMG_9152

One night this weekend I went out for sushi.
Wakame (aka seaweed) salad started it all off.

IMG_0932

And the RAMBO roll was the conclusion. Asparagus, avocado, mushroom. Oh yes, this was good. At first though she misheard me and thought I said Rainbow roll. So I ended up with a giant raw fish-topped roll. I’m not against the fish but was very hyped up for my Rambo. So I had to correct her and ask for another one to be made, as much as I am not a fan of doing so. Luckily she was very apologetic. I just hope the guy who had to prep the rolls wasn’t so P-Od that he decided to add any extra ingredients to my corrected roll… yikes.

IMG_0936

Three nights this weekend I went out for dancing.
One of them involved a photoshoot with feet, flowers, and leaky bathrooms.

IMG_0946 IMG_0947 IMG_0961IMG_0957  IMG_0963 IMG_0965

And that about sums up the last several days of my life, give or take an iced coffee, a cereal binge, a shopping trip and a Backstreet Boy groove session or two.

I’m off to relocate my butt from one location in my house to another (probably the one in front of the boob tube) briefly before heading off to dreamland so adios dears!

So it’s a long weekend this weekend. Which means Monday off, woo! I haven’t done anything overally exciting for it really, no cottage to go to or anything, so it’s been a pretty standard weekend. But I don’t mind that at all.

I’ll do a quick recap of my Friday and Saturday foods now, and then I’ll do today and tomorrow’s stuff probably at some point tomorrow. Much better than doing a whole entire weekend in one post… that would be way too much typing for me all at once ha..

Friday

No work on Friday. I can’t really remember what I did all day but I think it involved a lot of lazing and just doing whatever. That’s a pretty typical Friday for me.

Started the day off with some yogurt and fruit. I threw in some Corn Bran Squares to add some crunch to the last few bites of this bowl.

I was hungry a little later on (fruit and yogurt bowls don’t ever seem tohold me that long), so I had 1/4 of an Ezekiel english muffin topped with hummus and cottage cheese.

After doing a workout I made lunch, which was a bowl of cabbage slaw topped with salsa, sour cream and guac, plus a small piece of rye topped with salsa and guac as well. I washed it all down with an iced coffee.

Then for dinner I made my first Sunshine Burger! I had it on half an Ezekiel english muffin with a Laughing Cow cheese wedge and some spinach. I only had half because I wasn’t exactly starving, and dedicated the other half to lunch the next day. I also obviously had some beans and broccoli, plus a couple roasted potato wedges.
In terms of the Sunshine Burger taste, I really enjoyed it but I think ultimately I prefer Gardenburgers. I just find they have a bit more flavour as well as a few more all-around positives such as less calories, cheaper, more in a box, easier to find. I will enjoy the last couple Sunshine Burgers I have though and would consider trying the other flavour next time I see them.

After dinner I finished off the last bit of vanilla ice cream, probably 1/4 cup, with some frozen mango chunks, a bit of pumpkin seed butter, and some blueberries thrown in. Mango and vanilla ice cream taste sooo good together.

Even with it being a Friday night, I actually opted not to go out. Well at least to do the bar/club thing. I figured two nights in a row before that was enough for the time being, especially considering I had to work the next morning. So I went out for a lateish night coffee with a friend and then came home and went to bed. It was nice.

Saturday

I made an awesome smoothie for breakfast. It was probably so awesome because I used a packet of Strawberry Carnation Instant Breakfast which I found hiding in my cupboard and figured I should use up since it had literally been in there for years. After that smoothie though, I now want to go out and buy more. If only I could find the sugar free variety…
This smoothie included the instant breakfast plus a cup of almond milk, a container of cherry yogurt, half a frozen banana and some ice. I think I “yumm”ed throughout its entire consumption. I need to stop making half assed tiny smoothies and try to make real ones like this more often. It filled me up so much too and kept me full for hours.

Lunch was some raw veggies (baby carrots, cucumber slices and orange pepper slices), the leftover half of the Sunshine Burger from the night before, a small apple and a chocolate pumpkin muffin (which I had already cut a chunk off of and eaten earlier).

Dinner was a wrap filled with random stuff, pretty much in an attempt to use up whatever dips and things were in the fridge. I think this one had guac, hummus, tzaziki and spinach. Oh and possibly some bruschetta. Who knows. I also had a salad topped with balsamic vinaigrette.

Then I went out dancing. It was okay. I went out with a group of girls that don’t do the whole clubbing thing quite as much as I do though and watching them made me realize how my clubbing maturity has progressed over the last little while, especially in comparison to theirs… it was interesting to say the least…hah.

I’ll be back with another update sometime tomorrow hopefully. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
